First 4.20 files

Bob Jacobsen

First 4.20 files are in the usual place:

https://builds.jmri.org/jenkins/job/testreleases/job/4.20/2/

I’d appreciate people checking these can be downloaded, installed and run. The content (except for the version number) is the same as 4.19.9

No real hurry on these, but it would be good to get feedback in the next couple days. I’d like to release them Wednesday or Thursday.

Thanks in advance!

Bob,

The macOS dmg is not notarized.

After removing the com.apple.quarantine, the version information is incorrect.

Thanks for catching that. I’d inadvertently let my Apple certificates expire, now fixed.

New macOS installer (Windows, Linux identical) at https://builds.jmri.org/jenkins/job/testreleases/job/4.20/5/

Thanks

I get a 404 for that link.

I can see https://builds.jmri.org/jenkins/job/testreleases/job/4.20/

Is Rc7ba8249b on that page the correct download?

Yes, that’s the right one.

Sorry for the confusion; the “2” build had to get updated through a few more, now “5”, to get the macOS versions properly signed.

Thanks. Installs and runs OK on Win10 Pro and Raspbian buster with SPROG hardware.

Is there a way to get the Windows releases signed too? It would remove the Smart Screen annoyance when running the installer.

I don't know much either!

I found this https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/microsoft-defender-smartscreen/microsoft-defender-smartscreen-overview and some other sites implying that Smart Screen "learns" about safe apps by reputation. I may be wrong to assume you can sign anything.

We can submit files here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission/ but I suspect the way we name files, with the release hash appended, will defeat this as each release looks like a new file.

I tried to submit the 4.20 Windows installer but, as I have already run it once, and accepted the warnings, I cannot get all of the required output from Smart Screen.

Windows 10  edition 1903, Java 1.8.0_151.

Downloaded installed and ran fine on the panels I am currently working on.

I can confirm issue #8664 is now fixed, I can Zoom in and out as I wish again - Thanks!   I do have one oddity, which is when I create a new LE panel, it opens up Zoomed at 2 times, but listed as Zero Zoom in the Zoom menu. If I Zoom in or out, it sorts itself out.   I'm not sure if this is an oddity in my profile files, where I've been trying various test builds - are there any particular files in the profile I should try deleting?

I can also confirm issue #8188 is now fixed for me, the track plan now always displays correctly when I load a LE panel.

Pete

Pete,

For your zoom question, look at the user-interface.xml file.  The default LE panel name probably has a zoom setting.  The file is at the "profile:profile/<random looking name>" where "profile:" is the profile location as shown in Help => Locations.

I tried the various options on that Microsoft page, but it kept asking for my “Admin credentials” from Microsoft, which is something I don’t have.

We do submit a white-list request to some security company website (Norton?) but stopped when they started wanting to charge for it. Didn’t seem to make much difference in whether a release got intercepted.
