Bad practice in changing *.properties files
Dave S, I'd agree, unless you are also proficient in that specific language. I'd say it's appropriate to delete all. If the meaning has changed, I'd say yes, unless you are also proficient in that spe

New decoder definition file fails XML validation
Konrad, The easiest way to validate the XML file is to run an ant decoderpro target and add "Validate XML File" as a button on the main window. Reboot and use that. If the whole-file validation fails,

Best way to add and test a multi-file decoder definition
Konrad, If you've placed your new definition file(s) within your local repository checkout (being accessed by NetBeans), use the ant remakedecoderindex target. But if you have a decoderIndex.xml file

Proposal for PanelPro menu changes
Matt H, I think we're stuck with the concept of "loading" a file at startup so I think we can't drop "load" from the file menus. But we definitely need to:disassociate the "file" actions from the Pane

Proposal for PanelPro menu changes
Klaus, Is a turnout or a sensor information? It's an entity or item. "37" is a data item, possibly part of a set. "top-speed in mph = 37" is an item of information. I can't see any element of a panel

Addressing Steve G's concern: "Load and add items from file" and "Store all items to file"? (The most generic word I can think of that covers panels, turnouts, sensors, signals...) Dave H

I think my suggestion of it always being something like "Load and add data from file" may cover your concerns. Likewise "Store all data to file" or even "Store all data to new file" to emphasise that

Version mix-up causing me grief (yes, did it all myself, no doubt about it)
Wouter, I use NetBeans IDE, but never use NetBeans inbuilt Git tools for any repository-modifying operations. I always switch to the command line to do that. Dave

I've been testing and just discovered a serious failure that will cause some roster entries to fail to load correctly from a stored file. It affects all decoders that use splitHexVal or splitDateTimeV
